- Welcome to the street. We're the gray house with the bad hedge.
- Recycling is Thursday, whatever the city website says.
- No need to reciprocate. Glad the house is lived in again.
- I'm Ana from two doors down. Number's on the back if a package goes missing.
- Salvi's on Kentucky, not the one on the corner. Trust me.
- Don't come to the door if you're mid-box. Leaving this on the step.
- Welcome. The dog barking at 6am is ours and we're sorry in advance.
- Street sweeping is the second Tuesday. They ticket.
- Nice to finally say something instead of waving from the driveway.
- Welcome to the block. There's a text thread, and you're welcome to skip it.
- If you need a ladder, a drill, or a wheelbarrow, we have all three.
- Glad you're here. No obligation to be friends, but the option's open.
If you only remember one thing
Short and specific beats long and general. “I still think about you driving me to the airport at five in the morning” does more work than three sentences of sympathy, because only you could have written it.
