Your team of fourteen shipped something in April that took nine months. Or you run a department and December is coming and last year you sent gift cards, which were fine and which nobody mentioned again. You want one thing that lands in a room, that does not require you to know fourteen people's dietary details, and that does not create a spreadsheet.
What is appropriate, and what is not
One shared box beats individual gifts on almost every axis. Individual gifts require sizes, addresses, and preferences for every person, and they produce a comparison — somebody always notices who got what. A shared box has no ranking in it and it happens in a room where people are together.
Do the headcount math before you order, not after. A team of ten will finish a small box in one afternoon. Assume every person takes two and someone's counterpart from another floor takes four. Under-ordering is worse than not sending, because the last four people arrive to an empty box with your name on it.
Hybrid schedules break office deliveries. Find out which day has the most people in the building and ship for that day. A box that arrives Friday at an office that is empty Fridays sits at a front desk until Monday, and by then it has been opened by whoever found it.
Say what the team did. "Thanks for your hard work" is what a gift card says by itself. One sentence naming the release, the deadline, or the customer that got saved is the part people repeat to each other.
What to send
If you'd rather bake it: a double batch of chocolate biscotti, two sheet pans, about ninety minutes. /ricette/. Do not attempt pizzelle for fourteen people — the iron makes one at a time, and you will still be standing at it at midnight.
What to write
- Nine months on Atlas. You all did that. Kitchen, second floor.
- For the team. No meeting attached, no follow-up, go eat something.
- We had a bad March and you carried it. Thank you.
- There is enough for two each. Do not take four, Marcus.
- From the leadership team, who did comparatively little. Congratulations on the launch.
Timing
Ship for a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday arrival and pick the day your office is fullest. Mail rooms are backed up Monday and boxes sit unattended over a weekend. Send within a week of whatever you are marking, while people still remember the specific thing. In December, go early — the first week beats the third, when every vendor box in the region is landing at once and yours is competing for counter space. If your office has a front-desk policy, address the box to a person, not to a department, or it can sit unclaimed for days.
This page names no brand and earns nothing from what you decide. The bakeries that ship are listed alphabetically by state; our method is here, including what we would have to disclose if that ever changed.
